Chrystal Toop is a mother of two Indigenous young adults, a wife, an auntie, an innovator and helper. She is the founder of Blackbird Medicines, a land-based spiritual practice and social enterprise that offers public speaking, communications, training, and education around right relations. Chrystal is passionate about reclaiming culture and identity as restorative healing justice and shares insights and intersectionality of her lived experiences including generational survivorship of residential school, adverse childhood experiences, at-risk young adulthood and grassroots activism.
A member of the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation through her matrilineal line, Chrystal offers her services as an Anishinaabe-Euromix Storyteller with more than 20 years of experience. As a community educator and Cultivating Safe Spaces Facilitator, Chrystal has trained more than 300 Indigenous birth and death doulas throughout her unceded ancestral territory of the Algonquin-Anishinaabeg, also known as Renfrew County and beyond.
